Furnish the Community Shul
A place of prayer, learning, and togetherness.
Community Campaign
A place of prayer, learning, and togetherness.
In every Jewish community throughout history, the shul has been far more than a building — it is the beating heart of communal life. It is where neighbors become family, where strangers are welcomed, and where the voice of prayer rises together as one. For the families of Ohr Chabad in the Yatir Forest, establishing a properly furnished shul is among the most meaningful steps in transforming a settlement into a true community.
The shul is where our community comes together in prayer and hope — three times a day for davening, every Shabbos and Yom Tov, and for the Torah classes and farbrengens that nourish the soul. It is where children will hear the shofar on Rosh Hashanah, where families will gather for Megillah reading on Purim, and where a father will bentch gomel after a safe journey. Every simcha and every moment of need draws the community back to this sacred space.
“Make for Me a sanctuary, and I will dwell among them.”
— Shemos 25:8
Right now, the community needs everything to bring this space to life: sturdy tables and comfortable seating for over 120 congregants, high-quality siddurim and chumashim so that every person can follow along in prayer and Torah reading, and — most importantly — a beautifully crafted aron kodesh to house the community's Torah scrolls with the dignity and reverence they deserve. A proper bimah, Torah covers, silver ornaments, lighting, and a sound system will complete the shul and make it ready to serve the community for generations.
The Sages teach in Pirkei Avos (1:2): “The world stands on three things — on Torah, on avodah (prayer), and on acts of loving-kindness.” By furnishing this shul, you are strengthening all three pillars at once: enabling Torah study, empowering communal prayer, and performing an extraordinary act of chesed for families building Jewish life from the ground up in Eretz Yisrael.
By contributing to the Shul Furniture campaign, you are giving the Ohr Chabad community a place to pray, to learn, and to celebrate together. Every tefillah offered within these walls, every page of Torah studied at these tables, and every child who watches the aron kodesh open on Shabbos morning — all of it will carry the merit of those who made it possible.
