Spiritual Leadership
Strong leadership and spiritual guidance for a thriving community.
Of all the needs a new community faces — infrastructure, buildings, programs — none is more essential than strong spiritual leadership. A Rabbi and Rebbetzin are not simply religious functionaries; they are the heart and soul of the community, the people who transform a collection of families into a unified kehillah with shared purpose and vision.
Ohr Chabad is a community unlike any other. Situated in the rolling hills of the Yatir Forest, it draws pioneers from across the globe — Israeli-born families alongside English-speaking olim, seasoned Lubavitchers alongside Jews newly discovering their heritage. The community needs a Rabbi and Rebbetzin who can bridge these worlds: fluent in the languages and cultures of both Israeli and Anglo members, deeply rooted in Chassidic teaching, and inspired by the Rebbe's vision to bring the light of Torah to every corner of the land.
“A true leader is not one who rules over people, but one who serves them — elevating each individual to discover their own greatness.”
— The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Likutei Sichos
In a new settlement, the role of the Rabbi and Rebbetzin extends far beyond leading services and delivering shiurim. They serve as pastoral counselors for families navigating the challenges of building life in a frontier community. They create holiday programming that turns a small yishuv into a vibrant center of Jewish celebration. They develop youth and teen programs that give the next generation roots in Torah and a love for the land. The Rebbetzin organizes women's classes, Shabbat hospitality, and community events that weave the social fabric every settlement depends on. Together, they are the address for every question, every simcha, and every moment of need.
In the tradition of the Rebbe's shluchim, the Rabbi and Rebbetzin of Ohr Chabad will pour their entire being into this community — teaching Chassidus, guiding families through halachic life, mentoring young couples, and inspiring everyone toward the greater good. Their presence will be the force that transforms a settlement on a hilltop into a beacon of Chassidic warmth and wisdom in the Negev.
By funding the Rabbi and Rebbetzin's first year, you are investing in the spiritual infrastructure that will sustain this community for generations. Every class taught, every family guided, every child inspired — all of it traces back to the donors who understood that a community's greatest asset is its spiritual leadership.
